4 Villa Apartments
170-176 Mugdock Road, Milngavie, Glasgow G62 8NE
These four villa apartments have the same volume and scale as the century-old villas around Tannoch Loch. The natural blond sandstone walls and Westmoreland natural slate roofs are maturing as they age. Designed over three levels, the villas have bridges leading to the front doors. The apartments have full- height windows and balconies overlooking the loch. The villas perfectly illustrate how contemporary design can blend into the character of a conservation area.
3 Villa Apartments
1a Ralston Road, Bearsden, Glasgow G61
The three villa apartments replaced a single-storey, timber-clad bungalow and are designed to have the same scale and material quality of a Victorian villa. Each has its own private entrance, garden and covered car-parking space. They are built in natural blond sandstone beneath a slate roof.
Anniesland apartments, Glasgow
We designed 550 houses and apartments together with 50,000 square feet of business space on a brown field site on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal in Anniesland, Glasgow for Newstead Properties Limited.
4 Villa Apartments
Gartconnel Drive, Bearsden, Glasgow G61
The Gartconnel Estate was developed by William Russell in the 1930s and was modelled on detached houses from the south of England. We have evolved a prototype with the look of a large house that is divided into self-contained apartments with their own gardens. These large apartments have generous room sizes and are exceptionally well insulated. Our design aim was to
blend into the existing streetscape and the materials reflect the character of the street with brick, tile and render.
